Human-centered design of IT systems in production and logistics

PhD Supervisor: Prof. Dr. oec. Julia Arlinghaus

In the areas of production and logistics, the planner is confronted with uncertainties and high complexity, whereby IT systems are used for support. In this respect, the primary focus is on the use and implementation of technical solutions due to the prevailing Industry 4.0. The human perspective in the form of needs and cognitive biases is often neglected. Studies show, for example, that a large proportion of IT system users are dissatisfied with the presentation of results and information as well as the functionality. This problem is to be solved by the project with the help of the human-centered approach of Industry 5.0. The user interface of practice-relevant IT systems will be analyzed and questioned in order to develop human-centered design options that take cognitive biases into account.
