Frugal supply chain design and innovation

PhD Supervisor: Prof. Dr. oec. Julia Arlinghaus

Stephanie Knizkov works on identifying the different supply chain designs and innovation approaches that companies can adopt in order to successfully target the emerging middle-class and low-income segments in developing countries. Her research provides practical guidance for firms on questions such as: How can firms develop frugal innovation capabilities, such as the design of highly affordable products? How can firms include people living in poverty within their supply chains in a socially responsible manner? How can firms integrate new technology into their supply chains, such as drone deliveries that can reach potential customers in the most rural of locations?
