Toolbox for establishing control solutions in distributed manufacturing

modulbaukasten herkApril 2015 As a novelty, IAF presents the first coherent Toolbox for establishing control solutions in distributed manufacturing setups. The Toolbox works on the base of topological principles and operates according to the new principles of concurrency as long as the properties of intelligent factory units as exposed by network and networkable intelligent machines and equipment. Well-known models from factory planning, process optimisation as well as resource requirement planning are revitalised and synthesised.

The box supports new approaches instigating interdisciplinary solutions by applying the layer structure of production systems with their respective variety of disciplines behind. By this means, several disciplines may be focused on one object simultaneously in closest chlorination. As an outcome, another hybrid decision making procedure may be hinted at, where the decisions are established between machines information and shopfloor personal, ergonomic decision theory. An instrument is offered to evaluate the maturity of units as long as entire shop floors for smart manufacturing. The concept is a chapter in another of book in the Springer series “Advanced manufacturing Systems” and will be edited soon under the title: "Foundations & Principles of Distributed Manufacturing" by Prof. Kühnle. It proposes fundamentals for smart production and will promote discussions concerning Industry 4.0 in Germany.
